👋🏻 Welcome!

The first step in coming to Canada is to secure a job offer. After that, you’ll get your licensing confirmed, and your employer can help you through the immigration process. Shifts in hospitals tend to be 8 hours and you could be doing the day shift, the evening shift or the night shift.

Info By Profession

Radiation Techs

You will have to go through the process of getting international education verified for the Ordre des technologues en imagerie médicale, en radio-oncologie et en électrophysiologie médicale du Québec (OTIMROEPMQ). You may need to have your qualifications checked by Canada as well.

Physician Assistants

Do not exist yet in Montreal but is being tried in Northern Québec.

Rehab Professionals

OTs seem to be the most in demand, followed by PTs. It’s not like we don’t need S-LPs (I know, I am one), it’s just that the government doesn't want to pay any. The schools get one day a week, which is not much and most parents turn to private S-LPs. Just be aware that everyone MUST be a member of their respective Orders to practice (see below)

There are many rehab hospitals on the Island of Montreal including Villa Medica and Lindsay-Gingras.

Pharmacists

Pharmacists are in great demand and can work in private pharmacies or in the public hospital.

Orders

Perfusionist • pharmacist • lab tech • MRT • mental heath and addictions worker • occupational therapist • physio •social worker • sonographer • speech-language pathologist
